Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: PICK UP FROM AIRPORT/HOTEL IN NAIROBI AND TRANSFER TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK.

Early morning pick-up from your hotel and briefing by your driver guide. It takes 4-5hours to reach Amboseli National Park, famous for being the best place in Africa to see free-ranging elephants. On your drive southwards to the park, you will enjoy a scenic view of the beautiful highlands of Kenya. Amboseli National Park is located at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro and has a spectacular view of the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro (weather permitting). It lies 150 miles south-east of Nairobi, very close to the Tanzania border.  When you arrive at your pre-booked Safari Lodge, you will have lunch and if interested, you can enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive in the park.

DAY 2: EXTENSIVE MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES IN AMBOSELI

After an early breakfast you will go for an early morning game drives and this will give you opportunity to spot various wildlife in the Park. The park is famed for and is home to the huge herds of the African Elephant. It also plays host to lions, buffaloes, the elusive leopard, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, a variety of antelopes, and other smaller plains game. During the dry season, it is semi-arid terrains and during the wet season, the seasonal “Amboseli Swamp” becomes home to many species of birds.

In the afternoon, you will do a game drive as well to give you chance to see what you might have missed in the morning and even see more. You will return to your lodge after the game drive for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK FOR AN AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

Today you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park with a stop for lunch in Nairobi to break up the drive then on to Nakuru for a late afternoon game drive. Here you can expect to see buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, antelope and the lions that prey on them as well as vast flocks of flamingos clustered near the lake shore.

Lake Nakuru is famous for having the highest concentration of flamingos in the world and is home to over three hundred bird species. It is a sanctuary for both the Black and White Rhinos.  Also found in plenty are zebras, waterbucks, buffaloes and warthogs.

DAY 4: MORNING GAME DRIVE AND DRIVE TO MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive and depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve. Travel through the Masai country occasionally coming across Masai herdsmen with their livestock living harmoniously with the wildlife. After lunch at your residence lodge, another game run is planned in these vast rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife.

During your stay, you will also visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.

DAY 5: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK

Today, you will do Morning and afternoon game drives in this magnificent Park. The rolling grasslands of the Maasai Mara offer ideal game viewing and photographic opportunities and the grassy plains are broken by rocky outcrops which are favourite midday resting places for lions.

Masai Mara is famous for the Annual Wildebeest Migration that takes place between the months of July and October. During this time over a million wildebeests accompanied by thousands of other herbivores, migrate from Serengeti National Park to the Mara in search for greener pastures. Hundreds of lions and hyenas follow them picking on the old and weaker ones.

A full day game drive with picnic lunch at the Mara River as you enjoy the scenic view of the crocodiles resting on the brown-muddy river banks gives a remarkable experience.

DAY 6: DRIVE TO BACK TO NAIROBI TO END THE TRIP.

Immediately after breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and have a morning game drive as you leave the park to Nairobi. This is the best time for game viewing as the animals are actively feeding. You will have en-route lunch stop and other stops as you drive back.
