Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular park, named after the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, after her visit to the park in 1952 and covers an area of 1978 km2. The park is situated on the floor of the Albertine rift valley in a fertile, equatorial area and has beautiful scenery. This impressive park features a diverse landscape with grassy savannah plains, tropical rainforests, moist acacia woodlands, natural volcanic crater lakes, freshwater lakes, and a variety of wetland habitats. As a result, it has one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any nature reserve in the world, including 95 mammal species and over 610 bird species. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions but also hosts savannah lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, hippos, crocodiles and plenty of antelope species.

This makes it one of the few respected National Park when it comes to game viewing, boat cruises along with the 45km long Kazinga Chanel to view some of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world, optional chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge, nature walks among other activities.
